[ AM52 ] Very Early powder flasks for wheelock 12 Apostles but only 7 in this case

F963 A RARE 17th CENTURY GERMAN/DUTCH MATCHLOCK/WHEELOCK MUSKETEER'S “12-APOSTLES” POWDER BANDOLIER , BULLET POUCH & PRIMING FLASK, ca.1600 - 12 Apostles but only 7 with the primer flask in this case, the leather strap is not the original of course ,
the strings are all wax coated, the charge holders are all timber, leather pouch with lead balls. The Gent I purchased them from said these were circa 1600s & it looks like they were purchased from a dealer in the USA who still has the images on his site (except one of the wood flasks in his pictures has gone walk about between him selling them & my purchasing them )
The twelve apostles are wooden powder flasks suspended by a cord from a leather bandolier worn by musketeers or arquebusiers. The number carried may vary from ten to fifteen, but a common configuration is seven flasks in front and five in back, for a total of twelve. Each flask contains a premeasured amount of black powder, suitable for a single shot. The bandolier also comes with a small leather priming flask and a pouch for holding shot.
This one only has 7 .
The apostles facilitate reloading on the battlefield, reducing the risk of over- or undercharging the weapon
