some info was kindly given to me today from Kevin in the UK,see below info of this soldier
7th Bn. Royal Scots, Cpl 1630(303585)
?th Bn. Scottish Rifles, 40174
The Machine Gun Corps 72252
The Royal Engineers, 2203712.
The 1/7th (Leith) Bn. The Royal Scots was heading south by train to embark by boat to reinforce the troops on the Gallipoli peninsula but a human error with the signal points had another train heading towards it at speed and both crashing causing a huge fire ball and over 200 deaths at Quintinshill Near Gretna Green, Dumfriesshire on the 22nd May 1915 this still to date the worst British rail disaster with half the troop train troops surviving going by his service number he was more than likely on that train and later proceeded overseas probably redirected to Egypt (Palestine)
or even later to France but unsure
So from one horror to go overseas and be witness to another. A true soldier at that
And a very important medal group and rare as you know.
These are a hard to find combo of medals & is a complete group, he could not get the star if he had the Territorial war service medal. completely unresearched due to it being a Brit group.
Price-$900
