[ H408 ] Indian Army 1847 Albert pat Mounted Artillery helmet
H408 Indian Army 1847 Albert pat Mounted Artillery helmet. heavy Brass shell with large ornate Rococo front plate displaying 2 Cannons in the centre surmounted by Lions head replacing the usual British crown, Norman acanthus decorative bands & leaf spay.
Heavy Lion head chin scale bosses with brass chin scales, nil leather backing left, its all been lost to time as is the liner, but in accordance with Indian dress regulations, these were worn with the traditional Indian head wrap so they didn't need anything too fancy in the liner ,the fancy band running down the rear of the helmet has a break, & it looks like its had an old repair at some stage in its life, the repair has let go, it could be rejoined but no real need as the plume hides it.
The leather liner is gone , Images show the helmets good & bad points, its complete with horse hair Trichardt. Overall a nice helmet , very scarce to find with very few good known examples
