Genuine Napoleonic Swiss Infantry Shako circa 1810 -1815
Any headgear from this period is very hard to find, this is from the collection of a gent who specializes in Napoleonic items, his collection is awesome,
The images really tell the full story, the hat for its age is in stunning condition, the cockard is intact ,this is hard to explain & probably wont make any sense but please note the cockard is a lot duller looking in person, the camera flash has bough the colours to life more than it looks without the flash hitting it, more subdued in person,hope you can understand what i mean, the body is like a wool or felt style material, excellent condition,the visor & straps are showing considerable wear but for the age i think its minimal & quite acceptable, the top has some crazing but only minor, the interior as images show is very good, there is some type of old paper or fine thin cloth lining which is mostly still intact, there is also an old label inside, could have been a dealers tag / Museum tag from many years ago or something else completely different ? The chin scales are intact ,made from a very light steel & what looks like silver wash ? they are very light but have stood the test of time, the feather plume i believe would obviously be a replacement but all the rest i would say is original.
This era headgear is not something i know heaps about, i just don't see it nor get a chance to own it here in Australia, its without a doubt genuine, it has come from a Gent that specializes in this field & will guarantee it for life ,money back guarantee of authenticity .
