Admiral Sir Walter Henry Cowan, (1871 - 1956), (known as Tich Cowan), was a British Royal Navy Admiral. He entered the R.N. in 1884 (when he was just 13) on the training ship HMS Britannia and he saw service in both Boer wars. He was in the Royal Navy throughout both World War I, (most notably as Commander of H.M.S. Hood from 1921 to 1923) and World War II. At the end of WW2 when he was in his seventies, he was one of the oldest British servicemen on active duty.
