Full size original issue Serving Sister Order of St. John of Jerusalem Silver and Enamel Medal , Circular silver and black and white enamel breast badge with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular black enamel bombé medallion bearing a white enamel Maltese cross, a silver lion passant between the arms upper left and lower right, a silver unicorn passant between the arms lower left and upper right; the reverse bombé, plain silver; diameter 36.62mm (1.44 inches).The Order was instituted on 14 May 1888 and is an Order of Chivalry of the British Crown, the reigning monarch being Sovereign Head of the Order.
