Very unusual sword .i have no idea exactly what it is, the blade has a number & a makers mark, a friend of mine thinks the mark it Italian, its not modern , definitely an antique piece ,may be Victorian era ,may be older , its similar to a much earlier sword that i have seen which was all iron,
The Hilt is gilt brass with large swept arms terminating into bulbous finials , a lot of the gilt still remains especially in the protected area's. the double fullered blade is beautifully formed. the tip is slightly rounded but quite minor. On the risacco there is a number stamped on one side & a crown & something else on the obverse side. the sword is around 70 cm total when in the scabbard, out of the scabbard it is 66cm .
Scabbard is brass mounted leather with excellent stitching to the leather, To me i think the sword appears to be French in origins.A very well made item which i cant say for sure what it actually is.
