Am 3 Beautiful 8 plate russet iron Samurai Suji kabuto

This is a good example of an eight plate russet iron Samurai Suji kabuto. The plates are heavy and well finished with the brim plate (koshimaki) riveted to the lower edge. There are four rivets that have had the ends rounded connecting each plate. The five stage shikoro is finished in black lacquer and in very good shape with dark blue (kon-ito-sugake-odoshi) style lacing spaced in pairs. The wide black lacquered flanges (fukigaeshi) bear a family crest (kamon) made of copper with a manryoku design which means "thousand-fold power" This was one of the more popular crests among the high-ranking warrior families partly because of it's martial connections. The crown is engraved and made of copper and silver with a simple but refined look. The visor )maebashi) is finished in red lacquer on the inside. The stitched (ukebari) has been replaced sometime during the Edo period. The main chin cord is missing. Overall this is a nice example of it's type. Mid Edo Period.
