Nice old 1828 dated French troopers cuirass, nice dates inside the cuirass along with makers name & a few stamps here & there,
The set shows slight wear from battle & has some stains & shallow surface rust to the surface, one plate is actually showing more wear from the elements than the other, possibly due to the way it was stored for many years,Its more stains than anything but some very minor salt & pepper pits .It would probably clean up with little effort but I like to leave them as I find them,All leather straps are in place but could well be later replacements,They may be original but I doubt it,There is a very nice period repair on the top on one shoulder shown in the images, its done with 2 small iron pins, obviously done by an armourer.
The only draw back on this set is 2 extra holes in the back plate where it was screwed onto a wall of a castle, again non detracting,& some extra holes on the side where they have screws to hold the 2 halves together,a brass rivet put in the holes would be the solution,it does display well the way they have done it,The whole thing can screw to a wall for display,I prefer a stand ;0)
This is a nice set with all the minor battle wear, I am quite hard when doing descriptions so look at the pics above & judge for yourself as the images best describe the item (no waist strap as usual)
